At around the age of 7, Gin’s mother, an archeologist, volunteered to help with a dig in the caves on Dewford Island. His father, a blacksmith, told her that it would be a good business opportunity to go to a small island like that to set up shop. He could use the metals naturally found on the island to create his wares and sell them to tourism. A few months later, the family packed up and moved from the bustling city of Rustboro to the quaint little island.

There his father’s small business, consisting of little more than him, a Torkoal to help with the furnace, and an Aggron whose shed skin was used for smelting, became moderately successful. His mother experienced moderate success with her archeological dig. While there wasn’t anything significant discovered, several pieces of old, native pottery, and a number of Pokemon fossils were discovered.

When Gin was close to 13 years old, his parents’ Pokemon, the Aggron and his mother’s Rampardos, bred to produce a small Aron. The Pokemon was passed on to their son, acting as a guardian against the native Pokemon. As a result of breeding, the Pokemon inherited the attack Head Smash, but was always knocked out as a consequence of using the attack.

At 14, Gin developed an interest in surfing, a popular local hobby. However, a particularly large wave during storm season tossed him under, and likely would have drowned had it not been for a fellow surfer who rescued him. His Aron developed a closer bond to her trainer during that time, helping to nurse its trainer back to health.

At the age of 16, he decided to move inland in order to learn what he wanted to do for a career. He had minimal interest in taking up either of his parents’ occupations, and his mother suggested he get into Pokemon research, considering he had a good memory and a strong bond his Aron. Doing so, he apprenticed under Professor Birch for nearly a year before the professor decided it might be with his while to go to Luenn region, due to the wider variety of wild Pokemon there. He was willing to oblige, but took a trip by air as opposed to by sea, due to the fact he was nervous about taking a boat of any kind.

Gin is a calm individual, but sociable. He speaks somewhat quietly, and rarely raises his voice. Despite this, you can usually tell that he’s enthusiastic if the topic is something he has interest in.

He’s very calculating, and has a good memory, able to keep track of even minor details. Because of this, he’s known for being a good source of trivia, but not always knowledgeable about important things.

Due to a traumatic surfing incident, he was left with a case of hydrophobia, and refuses to go into any body of water deeper than a bathtub. While it seems illogical, he’s also since become far worse at swimming, due to his unwillingness to do so. In that respect, it could well be a bad thing for him to venture into water.

He has a good knowledge of Pokemon native to the Hoenn region, but those from other areas, such as Sinnoh and Unova remain somewhat of an enigma to him. However, his observational skills are good enough that he can usually deduce what type of Pokemon his opponent is, as well as make good guesses to what stats his opponent might have. Because of this, he’s surprisingly good at battling, though he’s never showed any interest in it unless it’s necessary.

Gin is a relatively average individual in terms of his proportions, though his hair color, a light gray, is somewhat unusual. His face is somewhat rounded, and his cheeks are slightly rosy, in contrast with his pale skin.

His usual attire consists of a red and orange striped thin scarf, wrapped loosely around his neck and a purple sweat jacket. Underneath of it is a whit t-shirt. His pants are black jeans with a leather belt holding them up. He wears a unusually large shoes for his size, white sneakers with black laces.

On the palm of his right hand is a large heat scar, the result of messing around at his father’s forge at a young age, touching scorching hot tongs at the end. It resulted in a third-degree burn, and he still has the scar to show it. As a result, he has little feeling in the palm of that hand.

Biography: A young Aron, the offspring of its trainer’s parents’ Pokemon. She has accompanied Gin in his adventures for about five years, protecting him from harm.
Personality: Kasha is affectionate, and loves to be around people more than anything else. However, she’s not trusting of anyone who Gin is wary around, and follows him around. She’s unshakable in terms of willpower, and very heavily opinionated. During times of stress, she’s calm, but stern.

*Upon using Head Smash, the Pokemon faints until it evolves. Upon evolution to Lairon, it takes normal recoil damage. Upon evolution to Aggron, it takes no damage due to its ability.
