Pokemon Battles and Contests will happen very often on the site. These rules are here to make sure any and all instances of the two are wagered fair. For any battles, contests or otherwise there will be required one person (staff preferred) to oversee the battle and report all discrepancies.
Pokemon BattlesSingleIn a Single Battle, each player uses one Pokemon at a time. You will Role-Play both your character's orders and your Pokemon's reaction to it. In both instances, the detail should be indisputable. There should be little to no confusion as to what your Pokemon is doing so as to have quick and effective responses. On your turn you are allowed to call out dodges (if applicable) and a max of two attacks or one combination attack (ex: Tail Whip and Tackle). Combination attacks can only be executed with moves whose base power are 50 or less and they require detail in the way of execution. You can check the base moves of your attacks via Serebii, Bulbapedia, etc. Also you cannot use two non-damaging moves in a combination attack (ie no Taunt and Torment).
DoubleDouble Battles are battles where players choose to use two Pokemon at a time in battle. Also this can apply to team battles in which case there are two players using one Pokemon each against another two players. For the most part rules for attack and defense remain the same except in this case you must use both pokemon to perform a combination and attack and it uses up your two attacks allowed per turn. Also you may have one of your Pokemon deflect or take the brunt of an opponent's attack as well if you wish.
Dodging: Dodging is limited. This makes sense because unless there's a major difference in levels between you and your opponent's pokemon (ie 10 or more), your Pokemon should not be dodging everything your opponent throws at you even if the Pokemon's speed is boosted somehow. Therefore, after two consecutive dodges, you must take a hit on your next turn.
Auto-Hitting/God-Modding: 200% Intolerable. Even if the Pokemon's move is described as never missing the target, you are
not allowed to force reactions of your opponent's Pokemon. Doing so might effectively earn you penalty in battle or you will lose the battle effectively. If you or your opponent godmodes in any way shape or form, the first offense will result in your turn being overwritten or skipped by a staff member. Continued offensives result in instant lose or in extreme cases suspension and/or ban.
Winning/Losing Battles: Winning a battle earns you rewards as soon as the you incur them. Each time your Pokemon knocks out an opponent's Pokemon, they will receive experience points on the spot. There will be a base experience point reward which is affected by the kind of battle it was, the kind of Pokemon that was defeated and the level of the Pokemon. A battle loss will still earn the Pokemon battle experience but it will be at a fraction of the base reward. Here are the factors that result in the net reward you will receive experience wise.
Wins: Base EXP x Battle Type x Stage
Where
- Spoiler:
Base = Opponent's level
Battle Type= x1.5 (if Wild Pokemon), x1.8 for trainer owned, x2 for traded Pokemon (these stack)
Stage: x1.5 for basic level, x1.8 for stage 1, x2 for stage 2, x4 for legendary
Loss: = Base x .5 x Battle Type
If you should run out of Pokemon during a trainer battle you will also have 15% of your money paid out to the player who defeated you. In NPC instances this will just be deducted from your money total. Money rewards for NPCs will be posted in their profiles at the time of encounter. Gym Leaders will have their rewards posted in their Gym Leader profiles inside the Gym.
Pokemon Contest RulesPokemon Contests are appearance based most of the time. That means description is vital to your chances in winning. Each contest will have a theme. Based on that theme you will write as descriptive as possible a role-play of your Pokemon performing with said theme. At the round's end, staff members will take a vote and the player with the highest votes wins the round for the contest. Votes also determine how many points the other contestants will receive for the round. Overall the player with the most votes will have the most points at the end of the contest and will receive the Ribbon for that contest. The second place and 3rd place winners will receive a Trophy. Here is the point scheme for votes.
Most Votes = 5 points
2nd Most = 3 points
3rd Most = 2 points
Else: 1 Point
0 Points rewarded if you do not receive at least one vote.
For each contest there can only be a max of 5 players at a time competing. This is to ensure that tie votes will be minimal.
